I have been a Parent for 14 going on 15 years now- a tadbit single, a tadbit working, a tadbit Stay AtHome. That puts me somewhere in that middle bracket of experience, not new, not old, but smack dab in the middle of it. I am one whom gather's info from many sources, I would have been a great generational parent had I had generations before me to share and teach me. I would have loved nothing more than to gain the experience and knowledge that way. Instead, I get to gather. This kind of Parenting falls into the Millennial Parenting category.
Its where Titus 2 Women have been banned. Between Tupperware,MaryKay,Community cookbooks sales- Oh and what was that other thing those women who stayed at home used to do? Something useless, I'm sure. Now thats Millennial Thinking!
This post is NOT about the working parent. It is NOT to pummel an already pummeled topic. Its my personal view from both sides of the fence.
I used to get aggravated that I had to search really hard to find that "group" to fit into in life. Oh, don't get me wrong, I didn't have that problem until I jumped off the boat to walk on the water of SAHM-hood. Never had a want or desire until then. I had a very difficult time getting connected to others whom had been "called" and not just the ones whom had just assumed the position. Yes, there is a difference between the Called and the Assumed. One steps out and the other steps in.
I just may continue on this topic for awhile. Let me leave with some points today:
*It is so cool to see some of these young moms out there really trying hard to take care of their children. Its offsets the ones whom play more than they parent.
*I love seeing other moms and their originality and special touches that they put on parenting and things they do. I have an entire blog of followers and friends that do so.
* Rule number 1. KEEP YOUR SICK KIDS HOME!!!!!!!! Your number one priority as a Parent is your child! Your Child is Your number one priority when they are sick! Come on! Some of you need to get this rule down.
Sick Children stay at home.
Unless, of course you didn't know that they were sick or its allergies, not contagious etc.. sometimes you just can't help it- we have all been there.....however, I can't think of anything more disrespectful to others than to send your sick child somewhere and get everyone else sick. Believe it or not this is actually a "status". What? Let me explain.
I have witnessed more sick kids in this school year, than any other school year that I can remember. I watch just this past week, 3 parents hold their kids over a trash can throwing up or in the bathroom or beside the car . WHO WANTS A STOMACH VIRUS? We were very fortunate to have 3 of our get sick at the same time and be out at the same time, yes, not only did they miss practices, but missed school and yes missed the GAME!
I now realize its the culture. I tried hard not to look at them "judgementally" then I realized, if I did, I would have to judge everyone the same here.
Yes, you become your culture, your culture does NOT become you. Choose wisely.
