I started to name this " I found the straw, you know, the one that broke the camels back!"
Because today was one of the worst days I could ever think of- that is until I got home and this evening heard such saddening news of a couple we used to go to church with - in the early twenties with a 3 year old- found out he died of a heart attack. I know he is with Jesus- no doubt. But I am so sad for Amanda and Addy and some how, regardless of whatever.... that the Lord gives them abundant peace during this sad time.
After finding out that today, all of a sudden my day no longer was entirely horrible- though, it ranked pretty high.

Today is the day that Matthew would have the work done on his teeth and due to him being little- our Dr. used a common sedative on him with the anesthesia so that he would be able to do what needed to be done. It went great, Matthew did very good for the procedures. I am so unimaginably grateful for these people that the Lord has placed in our lives here. during the summer with all the emergency- dental we had to do for Josh we ended up at the Children's Dentistry place. Great, love them, then we find a church and low and behold there they are. Genuine people who love the Lord. Had it not been for this fact about them that I know- today, very well could have been one that committed me as well as been very very bad for everyone.
I knew something was wrong when I walked into the surgery area to get Matthew and his eyes glared at me as though I was a stranger coming to abduct him. One of the most scariest times for me I can say, when intuition kicks in and you know somethings about ready to hit the fan. Well, it did, as I fought this frail 4 year old in my arms just to get him to the "quiet room" for the sedation to wear off, the Dr. tells me how well he did and how well the procedures went- assures me he will be fine and needs time to come out of the sedation. OMG- there is no way, anyone could have convinced me that this sweet child would do in the next 5 hours. I have never seen anything like this -except on horror flix- sad to say. I have never been more concerned for my own child than today as he flailed his head and body numerous times to try to hurt himself, as he bit his lip so hard numerous times to where his teeth went thru, and his eyes darkened with hate and he tried throwing chairs and hurting Josh and I as we sat there in shock trying to calm and comfort him, once his words unslurred, the things he didn't say, from bodily functions to a bloody mess- I thought I was going to pass out. I woke up this morning, talking myself into positiveness for the sake of Matthew- but my body ached like it hadn't ached in a while, my throat still felt swollen shut and I surely am on the downside on this cold- but 3 days to get over something that smacked me so fast was a bit much. You see, Josh did so well with his root canal this summer- I knew Matthew would do great as well! I have never fought so hard to keep a child from hurting himself- ever in my life. This totally takes the cake with anything I have ever been through. I have never been present when someone was causing physical harm to them self and this was horrid! I am so thankful for the Doctor coming in and having to assist in making him quit biting his lip, we knew that was a side effect, heck as adults we even are tempted to do it when we leave the dentist from being numbed up! But this was, a fit beyond what I have ever experienced. I can't count the things in this time period today that he hit with his head or kicked- he was slapping and punch his own face- I did everything I could to hold his hands down. I was finally able to call Dewayne, eventually he showed up and in shock, there was no way he could understand what was happening- I couldn't explain, I was so upset. Apparently this is a bad reaction to the sedative. Some kids it happens to, some no problem. There are so many things that happened I can't even talk about it- I still can't believe this happened to him just from what seemed to be so calming in the beginning. I think the worst thing about it, beside the lip brutalized but numerous biting, was him trying so hard not to do what he was doing after a while, he would collapse and cry (hours later) and say I not want to do that- and say ooooooooooh and slam his shoe across the room into a wall and go at it again. Beside thinking I was going to have to take him to the Hospital after the dentist- besides his huge gashes in his lip and below where he bit thru, it was a horrible experience. I have held him most of the day and poured drinkable yogurt and pudding down him as much as possible. He is still not back to himself. I don't know if I will ever forget that look- I can't think of a more horrible thing as a mother. I tell you, I have an entire new perspective on drug addictions and addicts- if this is any clue to how it changes someone immediately to where you wouldn't even know them. What can you do- really? You can be there for them, you can love them, try to keep them from hurting their self, but really- what can you do? I pray I never witness anything like this ever again.
I pray he never remembers the things he said or did.
